Glass animals announce special show in Sydney

English indie pop band Glass Animals is coming to Sydney this week for a special one-off show.

The Hottest 100 icons have been teasing a new show in recent days, eventually announcing overnight that they will perform at “Sydney, Australia, Earth” on Thursday, May 9.

Included in the official announcement was a link that took fans to a sign-up page where they could be notified about tickets for the one-off show.

Tickets officially go on sale today, Tuesday, May 7 at 10am local time. Tickets are available via the band’s official website or Live Nation Australia.

Glass Animals are coming to Australia following the announcement of their fourth studio album, I love you so damn much, in early April. The band’s fourth album is scheduled for release on July 19 and is described by frontman Dave Bayley as a “collection of existential love stories.”

I love you so damn much is the highly anticipated follow-up to the band’s 2020 album Dreamlandwhich became their most successful album to date in Australia, reaching number 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart and being certified Gold.

Dreamland featured the overwhelmingly popular single “Heat Waves”, which easily became Glass Animals’ signature song. In addition to reaching the top five on the UK Singles Chart, ‘Heat Waves’ was a number 1 hit in Australia, the US, Canada and across Europe, becoming the longest-charting song ever on the US Billboard Hot 100. In Australia, ‘Heat Waves’ topped Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2020, making Glass Animals the first British act to triumph since Mumford & Sons in 2009.

You can listen to the first single from the band’s new album, “Creatures in Heaven,” below.

Glass Animals will be busy touring elsewhere this year, with their ‘Tour of Earth’ tour to North America and Europe, accompanied by Kevin Abstract, Eyedress, Blondshell and The Big Moon.
