US Embassy Nairobi implements new visa requirements for non-immigrants

The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi has implemented new procedures regarding the DS-160 application form for non-immigrant visa applicants.

These changes are intended to streamline the application process and ensure accuracy.

What is a non-immigrant visa?

A non-immigrant visa is intended for foreigners seeking temporary entry into the United States for purposes such as tourism, medical treatment, business, temporary work, or studies. Effective immediately, all non-immigrant visa applicants must bring the same DS-160 application form used to schedule their interview for the actual visa interview. The DS-160 is an online form that records your biographical and travel information. Applicants have until May 18, 2024 to comply with this new requirement. Failure to submit the correct DS-160 application form will result in the scheduled visa interview being canceled.

To ensure you have the correct form, follow these steps:

1. Find the confirmation page of your DS-160.
2. Go to (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke)(https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke) and log in to your account.
3. Verify that the DS-160 number shown on your account matches the number on your confirmation page.

If the DS-160 numbers align, proceed with your scheduled interview as planned. In case of a mismatch, you will need to complete a new DS-160 application form by following these steps:

1. Visit (https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx)(https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx).
2. Complete the new DS-160 application form according to the instructions provided.
3. Print the confirmation page for the DS-160 application you just completed.

Update your online account

Once you have the new DS-160 confirmation page, update your online account at (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke)(https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ke) :

1. Log in to your account.
2. Click on the gear icon in the right corner.
3. Select “Edit” and update the old DS-160 number with the new and correct number.

If you are having trouble updating your DS-160 number in your online account, you can seek assistance by clicking “Contact Us” at the bottom of the web page and following the instructions provided. Please remember to confirm or update your DS-160 application form by May 18, 2024, as failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your scheduled interview and you will be required to reschedule. By following these new procedures, you can ensure a smooth and efficient visa application process at the US Embassy in Nairobi.
