The famous Gogglebox star believes he has ‘ten years to live’ due to a brain tumor

Martin Kemp has said he thinks he has only ten years to live, according to a conversation with his son Roman Kemp.

The Spandau Ballet star made the announcement during a conversation on their new podcast episode, FFS! My father is Martin Kemp, entitled ‘dead’.

In it, the 62-year-old is asked by his son, a radio presenter, how long he thinks he has left.

He replied, “I’ll be very honest with you, ten years.”

“And I think after that, everything else, every day, every year, every month I’ve lived, every experience I’ve had has been a bonus.

“And I’ll tell you something, it’s very strange that when I was 34 and all and going through that brain tumor thing, I was practically resigned to the fact that I was going to die, but I was quite content with my fate. , because I had had the most incredible experiences.”

He went on to say that he has “experienced things people dreamed of,” including being in a popular ’80s rock band, flying around the world on jet planes and even “drinking champagne at 8 in the morning ‘.

Martin added: “I have lived the most incredible life. By the time I was 34 and I thought I was going to die, I thought about it for two years, I was quite happy, I thought if I go, you know what? What a life, and that was then.

“So every year I live, every month I live now, is like a bonus.”

In 1995, Martin was diagnosed with two benign brain tumors, one of which was the size of a grapefruit.

He revealed in Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2014 that it was his wife who discovered a lump in his head, leading him to discover a mass was growing in the center of his brain after seeking medical advice.

“If they had never found this one when it was growing out, they wouldn’t have found the one in the middle until it was too late, and that was the one that would have killed me,” Martin explained.

He underwent surgery to remove the tumors and received radiotherapy treatment. Although he recovered, he was left with epilepsy due to the two tumors, which he controls with medication.

“Having epilepsy is quite common in anyone who has or is recovering from a brain tumor,” he previously explained.

‘I’m still on medication to suppress it and will have to do so for the rest of my life.’
