The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has criticized the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government for overseeing the current economic woes in the country.

Gyamfi alleged that the policies of the current government have led to the destruction of the Ghanaian economy to an extent that repairing the damage would require an extraordinary effort.

“In the state where President Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have destroyed our economy, it will take 50 years for us to rebuild the economy if we run an 8-hour shift,” he said on UTV in Accra on May 3, 2024.

According to him, the country’s debt burden has skyrocketed and reached unprecedented levels under President Akufo-Addo’s administration.

He expressed serious concerns about Ghana’s ability to obtain further loans due to its precarious financial situation.

“Because of our debt, places where all countries are borrowing have been told that we can’t get any more loans because we can’t pay our debts,” he added.
