Malaysian defense fair with Turkish-made warships

STM Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade will showcase its indigenously developed warships at the Defense Services Asia (DSA) Fair 2024 in Malaysia.

According to a company statement, STM has secured a series of export deals, further cementing its position as a major player in Turkey’s defense industry. The company continues to bring its locally developed technologies to international markets.

STM is preparing to bring together military naval platforms and tactical mini unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems with the South Asian region at DSA 2024, one of the largest defense exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region. The 18th DSA 2024 Fair will be held this year in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, from May 6 to 9.

‘Business development, export negotiations in more than 30 countries’

STM’s Managing Director Ozgur Guleryuz highlighted the company’s global appeal in the defense sector, citing its military naval platforms developed through national technical expertise, tactical mini-UAV systems, cybersecurity initiatives and software projects.

Guleryuz said that at the DSA fair in Malaysia, they will present military ships equipped with original designs and modern technologies.

“We have experience, engineering and technology to meet all the needs of the friendly and brotherly country Malaysia at sea with modern platforms. With our national ships, we want to open the doors to exports in the Asia-Pacific and sign new cooperations,” he said.

5 different naval projects to be displayed

STM, which builds surface and underwater platforms for the Turkish Naval Forces, Ukrainian and Pakistani Navies and other naval forces, will introduce five different naval projects in Malaysia.

Türkiye’s first national corvette project, MILGEM (National Ship) Ada Class, which has been delivered four times and has achieved export success so far, will be exhibited at the STM stand.

Another important project, the MILGEM Istanbul Class Frigate (TCG ISTANBUL), Türkiye’s first national frigate project, for which STM is the designer and main contractor, will also be exhibited at the STM stand.

STM’s first small national submarine project, the STM500, the STM MPAC Attack Boat, which has high-speed maneuverability and can launch surface-to-surface guided missiles, and the CG-3100 coastal security ship will be presented to participants at the fair.

In tactical mini-UAV systems, KARGU, which has been exported to more than 10 countries on three different continents, and UAV BOYGA, which was added to the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces last year, will be showcased at the STM booth.

On the other hand, the last ship of the MILGEM Ada class, TCG KINALIADA (F-514) Corvette, for which STM serves as prime contractor and has achieved a 70% domesticity rate by equipping it with maximum national systems, will anchor in Kuala Lumpur between May 13 and 15 as part of port visits to Japan.
