Top Biden DOJ Official Arrested for Lying About Previous Arrests

A top Biden Justice Department official could be in trouble after new information shows she has lied about previous arrests since she was an adult. Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke answered no during her 2021 confirmation hearing. New documents found by the Daily Signal showed that Clarke was indeed arrested in 2006 in a domestic violence dispute. She had stabbed her then husband (via Daily Signal):

Before Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke became one of the Justice Department’s top leaders, he was allegedly involved in a violent domestic dispute — an incident that ended in her arrest and was ultimately expunged, according to court filings, documents and text messages . During her Senate confirmation, Clarke specifically denied ever having been arrested for or charged with committing a violent crime.

Clarke was nominated by President-elect Joe Biden on January 7, 2021, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 25, 2021, to lead the DOJ’s “crown jewel,” as former Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said. Division of Civil Rights.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated Clarke as the first Black woman to lead the Civil Rights Division, promising she would focus on fighting voter suppression and hate crimes “across the country.”

During her nomination, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., asked then-nominee Clarke: “Since becoming a legal adult, have you ever been arrested for or charged with committing a violent crime against anyone?”

“No,” she replied, according to the answers she submitted under oath to “Questions for the Record” from U.S. Senators.

Reports and data obtained and verified by The Daily Signal indicate that Clarke may not have been as forthcoming with this statement.

(…)

Clarke’s ex-husband, Reginald Avery, alleged to Tom Jones of the American Accountability Foundation in 2021 that Clarke attacked him with a knife and cut his finger deep to the bone on the night of July 4, 2006, while they were married and lived in a house. Maryland.

Clarke later filed a motion to remove the record, which was granted in 2008. What does this all mean? Nothing. There’s no way Clarke would lose her job here if anyone thought about that. It’s something to keep in mind regarding precedents, because Democrats can apparently lie, which is their job, on questionnaires submitted under penalty of perjury. Clarke could have saved a lot of trouble if she had announced her arrest and removal from the beginning, but you know why she didn’t. Still, something should have been done

Biden has selected these people to lead the top divisions of the Justice Department. Clarke is spearheading the investigation into pro-life activists who allegedly breached the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances ACT. It flies under the radar, but FBI agents were unleashed on these people. Some even visit people because of what they posted on social media.

The DOJ has been out of control for a long time. Are you shocked that the people running it are just as incompetent? That’s all.

UPDATE: Following Signal’s report, Clarke came clean on the matter, including why she didn’t make her initial arrest public (via NY Post):

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke admitted Wednesday that she had been arrested and chose not to make the legal matter public during her Senate confirmation process because it had been expunged from her record.

Clarke claimed that since the arrest was dropped, she did not have to disclose it to lawmakers.

“When given the opportunity to talk about such traumatic incidents in my life, I chose not to,” the Biden administration official said. “I did not believe during my confirmation process, and I do not believe now, that I was obligated to share a completely erased subject from my past.”

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) called on her to resign. It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
